Yorkville is the spot for international fashion in Toronto, and it’s also home to some incredible Canadian designers.

If you’re visiting the city, make sure to save some time to shop local.

You won’t have to wander far from our House to find some of the best labels in the world, made right here in Canada. Below, you’ll find a selection of Toronto clothing brands to check out while you’re in town.

ŪNIKA

If you want a one-of-a-kind swimsuit, ŪNIKA is for you. Designer Betsy Campos was inspired by the swimwear she saw during her summers in Brazil, and she founded ŪNIKA to provide more options for women of all shapes and sizes in Canada. At her custom swimwear flagship store, you can select a silhouette, try on a sample size, get measured and then pick your favourite fabric from over 150 options in every colour imaginable. If you’re in a hurry, don’t worry — you can also buy gorgeous off-the-rack bathing suits for $80-$100 or pay a small rush fee to get your custom order done in a day.

Judith & Charles

Stepping into this store is like entering a minimalist art gallery. Expect crisp upscale basics that you can wear from season to season. The Canadian design duo mixes and matches soft, flowing fabrics with structured tailoring. Last year, when the Duchess of Sussex, former Toronto resident Meghan Markle, stepped out in a Judith & Charles mini tuxedo dress, the garment completely sold out. Luckily, you can still get your hands on other menswear-inspired pieces, like jumpsuits and shirt dresses.

Basia

This Toronto fashion boutique specializes in jewelry and select fashionable home decor. Owner Basia Polowska designed interiors for Fortune 500 companies for a decade before she made the jump to jewelry design. Now, you can find her sculptural necklaces displayed alongside fashion accessories from other Canadian designers at her eponymous store north of Yorkville.

Mani Jassal

Since launching her luxury evening wear label only five years ago, designer Mani Jassal has already released seven collections, including bridal, resort and ready-to-wear collections. Many of Jassal’s dress designs are influenced by her childhood in Punjab, India, but everything is proudly made in Canada. Fresh, modern two-piece ensembles look elegant and effortless thanks to the designer’s innovative take on traditional patterns and a playful application of lace, beading and tassels.

Pink Tartan

Designer Kimberley Newport Mimran founded Pink Tartan in 2002. Their flagship store is still in Yorkville, but they’ve become a global label. Best known for understated fashion that epitomizes feminine luxury, Pink Tartan offers quality separates that you can easily transition from workwear to the weekend – think smart button-down shirts, slacks and blazers. Today, it’s still one of the most popular clothing stores in Toronto.
